If there is one thing that I appreciate more than sexy muscular alpha men, it’s a fun Easter egg or cameo (and no I don’t mean the fan site). And for me, the best cameo is of men you've seen naked engaged in hot man-on-man sex on TV when you are NOT watching porn. It's a complete joy seeing someone and knowing you know a secret while none of your straight friends know why you look so excited as you are watching “Million Dollar Listing”. But let me tell you, when I first noticed Fredrik Eklund on screen I tried to contain myself so hard (no pun intended) before spilling the tea and letting someone know I noticed that man from good ol' fashioned American gay porn.
I am not going to include him again below, but Fredrik isn't the only actor that has crossed over from gay porn to cameo in mainstream entertainment. Below, is a list of some of the men that have made that crossover although I am sure there are many many more. If you have any other favorites, let me know!
François Sagat
Kicking off the list, I had to start off with one of the most notable stars in porn: the legend himself François Sagat. Besides trying to keep up with the world of porn, I do enjoy horror movies so it was quite fun to see his cameo in “Saw VI”. Although it was quick cameo, it was because of his memory that inspired me to put together this list. He has gone on to act in other independent films including LA Zombie with Matthew Rush but do hope he makes more cameos in the future.
“Danny” from Sean Cody
This entry will age me — haha — because it comes from the golden age of Sean Cody. I haven’t seen much of their content recently. The Twitter-verse states that the quality of their porn has changed and SC needs to go back to its roots. Anyway, back in 2007 Danny appeared in various films for Sean Cody. The gay-for-pay actor was the face of the site for quite some time. And while, unfortunately, he stopped, he caused some controversy in the MMA fighting world for appearing in FX’s “The Ultimate Fighter” — making his gay porn past a public topic of discussion.
Brent Corrigan
Speaking of controversy, our next entry is pornstar Brent Corrigan, whose real name is Sean Paul Lockhart. While he has returned to porn, he once took a break working in LGBTQ+ films and independent films including a cameo or two in “Judas Kiss”, “Sister Mary”, “Chillerama”, and “Triple Crossed”.
Matthew Rush
Matthew Rush was iconic in the early 2000s for having a hot beefy bod while presenting a charismatic personality. While he has had a recent troubling past with drug use, Matthew did cameo in a couple independent films including “Pro Wrestlers vs Zombies”. I do hope he finds the need and help to get back in front of the camera both in porn and independent cinema. Hey, Hollywood does love a comeback story.
Brad Benton
Growing up in LA I have seen many celebrities, both from porn and from TV, in real life. So it was interesting to run into Brad Benton (aka Dylan Vox) a few times. Once, while he was attending law school with a friend of mine. And another while he was a bartender in a gay bar. Both times, I immediately pictured him in porn haha. To give him credit, Dylan always showed interest in mainstream cinema and has held a strong passion for writing and acting outside of porn. Some of his cameo credits include “Battle of Los Angeles”, “Aliens vs. Avatars” and worked as a line producer on “Sharknado 3: Oh Hell No!”.
Logan Moore
Having recently come across Logan Moore, I was fascinated to find out he is now a contestant in reality TV, the second competitor on our list. But instead of fighting for a title in the cage, he is fighting for love. Apparently, the Dutch gay fetish model is competing on a TV show titled “Prince Charming” Now on its season 2, the show follows a group of gay men competing bachelor style in the hopes of finding a lifetime partner. Lets see if Logan Moore will be this year’s Prince Charming!
Honorable Mentions
Steven Daigle of “Big Brother”
Steven gets an honorable mention today as this list was basically created for someone like him. Having starred in “Big Brother,” Steven Daigle used his claim to fame to make a splash in porn. When this came out, I remember being SHOCKED. Why? I hadn’t seen “Big Brother” and am not sure why I was so amazed but I ate that PR stunt up! He is listed as an honorable mention as he did TV before porn and not vice-versa.
Jack Mackenroth from “Project Runway”
Another personality who did more than just a cameo in reality TV before porn is Jack Mackenroth. I actually remember watching his season of “Project Runway” back in the day. I'm not alone in thinking Jack was quite the beautiful man. So you can imagine how my jaw dropped when I saw him in porn. Well… I was shocked for a second! Then I thought this would be natural progression for someone who no longer designs. No shade. But I'm glad he is giving his fans something they have been waiting for. I wonder if Tim Gunn has seen his stuff haha.
